About Imago
|
Imago Relationship Therapy was originally
developed by Harville Hendrix PhD and Helen LaKelly Hunt, PhD,
based on their own experience of relationships, including their own
marriage and Harville’s clinical work with couples, and through
brilliantly synthesising the work of other renowned relationship
experts and thinkers.
This therapy was outlined in the best selling books “Getting the
Love You Want – A Guide for Couples” and “Keeping the Love You Find
– A Guide for Singles” by Harville Hendrix.
Imago offers a clear way of understanding the journey from
romantic love, through to disconnection, frustration and conflict,
and a proven method for restoring relationships back to energetic
connection, passion and hope.
Oprah Winfrey – Imago Couples Therapy in her
“top 20 shows” of all time!
Oprah Winfrey included “Imago Theory” in her list
of “Unforgettable! Oprah’s Top 20 Shows” in a feature celebrating 25
years of the show. Response to Harville Hendrix’ demonstration
of couples therapy on “The Oprah Show” was so strong, that the book
“Getting The Love You Want” was back yet again on the New York Times
Bestseller list in May 06, 20 years after its initial publication.
The Relationship Journey:
When we fall in love it can be an amazing experience, and
we usually think it will be forever. The world seems a
wonderful place, we feel fully alive and connected with our partner
and excited and hopeful about the future.
All too often these wonderful feelings disappear, and we end up
in disappointment, frustration and conflict. Before we know it
we can be in a relationship of diminished passion and connection.
We no longer feel cherished. Boredom, frustration and conflict
can sap our energy, and we can find ourselves unable to communicate.

“Only in relationship can
you know yourself, not in abstraction and certainly not
in isolation. The movement of behaviours is the
sure guide to yourself; it’s the mirror of your
consciousness; this mirror will reveal its content, the
images, the attachments, the fears, the loneliness, the
joy and sorrow.” Krishnamurti
